God is a God of love, mercy, compassion, and longsuffering. In fact, there is a whole Psalm that ends in these words. “for his mercy endureth for ever.” All 26 verses in Psalm 136 end in these words. It has never been his will that man go to hell. Hell was made for the devil and his demons but man was never intended to go there. It was when man disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden that man became a candidate for hell. Since then, millions upon millions of souls have died and are now spending eternity in a place so horrible that words can hardly describe.
We read in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, the second person in the trinity, came down to save mankind from eternal judgment. “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5) We go on and read the following in verse 6. “6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Yes, we were all born in sins. But thanks be to God who sent his only Son who was the perfect sacrifice, we can escape the awful punishment of hell.
Salvation is ours if we want it. We can be free from the bondage of sin and eventual death and hell through taking Christ as Savior and Lord and trusting in Him. “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:15) He will forgive you of your sins as he has mine and when we take Jesus as Savior, we begin a new walk with Him, growing each day as we read his Word and talk to him in prayer. We have a choice, wrath or eternal bliss. Please take the right choice! Take Jesus and repent of your sins and he will come into your life, making you a new creature in him. You will have a new lease on life here and an eternal future of indescribable happiness and joy.
